It is the PGA across the pond this week and the WGC at Bridgestone should provide a good guide to the relative merits of some of the contenders. Sean O'Hair was the puntinplay selection for that event but he came up short dropping three shots in the last ten holes after bagging a couple of birdies early on to take the lead.
He must have another good chance this week given his current form and he is a tp priced 46 on the washing line this morning. He didn't play at Whistling Straits in 2004 but he handled the weather conditions at St Andrews very and he should be on all short lists for this week.
Jeff Overton is in even better form and he has been knocking on the door since May. After a top 30 finish at the Players Championship in May he has finished second twice in the Byron Nelson and Greenbrier Classic, third in the AT&T and the Crown Plaza,on Sunday he finished sixth at the WGC and previously had been 11th in the Open and 12th in the Memorial. In his only other outing he missed the cut in the Travelers. The 27 year old from Evansville will go well again this week.
Bo Van Pelt is the other player we like. He was a top thirty performed at Whistling Straits and he finished stongly at the weekend finishing third. He would have been a closer closer in The Open apart fro a last day 74. He has had 6 top ten finishes and has been in the top 25 ten times from 21 outings.
Sean O'Hair is a top priced 46 in a couple of places, Overton is a stand out 61 with Paddy Power and Van Pelt can be backed at a very generous 81 in quite a few places.
