Punt in play followers are sitting pretty after Bellvano duly landed the odds on his debut over hurdles and had his price slashed into 8-1 for the Supreme Novices.
Nicky Henderson’s five-year-old, advised each-way at 16s for the Cheltenham race before scoring in the finale at Newbury today, looked something special when sauntering clear under a confident ride from Tony McCoy to win by a wide margin from some highly thought of rivals.
Carrying the famous colours of JP McManus, Bellvano was a bit novicey at some of the flights but jumped well in the main and showed he had a real engine when quickening clear to win as he liked.
The heavily backed 10-11 winner delighted his handler who believes there is plenty more to come from the son of Silvano – especially in a stronger run race.
Bookmakers were similarly impressed and Bellvano’s price for the Supreme Novices went into freefall as he passed the winning post. He is now generally an 8-1 shot and although there are bits of 10s still available that is unlikely to last long as he is trading under at 17-2 on Betfair.
Recommended bet (Already advised): 3pts each-way Bellvano – Supreme Novices Hurdle 16-1
