The three day Aintree festival gets underway today on ground described by clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch as "good-to-soft, good in places".
There is light drizzle at the track this morning, but the forecast is for it to clear and be dry and warm by the time racing gets underway at 2pm.
With warm weather expected over the next couple of days, officials have strssed that they will mointor the situation closely to see if it is necessary to water before the Grand National on Saturday.
