Adrian Lewis claimed the sixth Pro Tour title of his career with a 6-4 victory over Mark Walsh in Gladbeck on Sunday.
'Jackpot', available at 12/1 at the start of play took out Mick McGowan, Maik Langendorf, Mark Dudbridge, Steve Hine, Robert Thornton and Brendan Dolan before edging the contest with Walsh in the final. The victory, Lewis' first since triumphing in Dublin in October, lifts the Potteries man to within £3,000 of sixth placed Ronnie Baxter in the PDC Order of Merit whilst Walsh moves above Hamilton and into the world's top ten.
Lewis is a general 16/1 shot to win this year's Premier League and 20/1 to prevail at next year's World Championship at Alexandra Palace.
Ronnie Baxter was a third round loser to Ulsterman Dolan whilst Mervyn King & James Wade suffered consecutive 6-0 whitewashes at the hands of Scotland's Gary Anderson who was defeated by Walsh in the last four. Wayne Mardle was unable to improve on Saturday's early exit as he exited in round one courtesy of a defeat by John Quantock and now faces an uphill battle to qualify for this year's big TV tournaments. 2008 Lakeside World Champion Mark Webster enjoyed his best Players Championship run since August in reaching the quarter finals.
The tour heads to the north-west this week with week five of the Premier League taking place at the MEN Arena in Manchester before another Pro Tour double header in Wigan at the weekend.
