On a wet night in Leeds, Melbourne Storm stepped up to the plate to defeat Leeds to win the World Club Challenge. Puntinplay followers were rewarded in the early few minutes as Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield opened the scoring with a penalty (tipped at 8/1). After a halftime score of 4-4 it looked like tries may be hard to come by but within minutes of each other both Leeds and Melbourne managed to touch down to take the score to 10-10. A scrappy 30 minutes followed with both defences standing strong but it was Melbourne who managed to apply more pressure and scored a try in the last few moments of the game, winning 18-10. They now become the first Australian team to win the World Club Challenge twice. Leeds must go away empty handed, dreaming of what could have been, and now need to make amends to a poor start to their domestic season.
Melbourne are available to back at a best priced 13/2 (Skybet) to win the NRL regular season which starts in the next few weeks.
