Riptide looks well treated in the 5.00 at Newcastle and makes plenty of appeal at 6/1.
The gelding went in at the first time of asking for Michael Scudamore when belatedly opening his flat account at Warwick back in June off a mark of 62 and has run a number of solid races since.
He ran an absolute blinder on his latest start at York when a close-up fourth to Bow To No One off a mark of 70 and gets into today's contest on the same mark.
Given that he has been rated as high as 133 over hurdles he certainly looks potentially well treated enough to go in again, and it's interesting that connections are refitting him with cheekpieces as he tends to race lazily and has gone well in them in the past.
Today's class 5 contest is far less competitive than the class 4 event he ran in at the Knavesmire and the fact that he has proven winning form in the mud is another major plus.
If he runs up to form then he has got to take all the beating, and at 6/1 he looks an each-way steal.
Recommended bet: 3pts each-way (6/1 generally available - BOG)
