Just the one second round match at the World Indoor Singles at Potters on Friday, but not one to be getting too heavily involved in.
Kelvin Kerkow v Stephen Chan
After 14 games of the second round, eight seeds have already been unceremoniously dumped out of the tournament in what has been a tumultuous week on the Norfolk coast. But this match between 11th seed Kerkow and unknown Hong Kong qualifier Chan should see the Aussie top-16 star cruise through.
Kerkow, who suffers from Guillain Barre syndrome which means he has to walk with the aid of a stick, is one of the most popular bowlers on the World Bowls Tour due mainly to his no-nonsense approach to the game and the 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medallist is a red-hot favourite to see off his Oriental opponent, with 'Spike' as low as 1-10 with Boylesports and a best price of 1-6 with Ladbrokes and William Hill.
The Queensland ace does have a poor record at Potters, though, having reached the quarter-final stage just once in eight attempts and he was spitting feathers after falling to Mark Royal at the third round stage last year, losing the match from a seemingly unassailable position.
As for Chan, nothing much is really known about him except that he was a late replacement for 73-year-old Osman Adem and he defeated England international Michael Bowley in the first round in what was an exceptional performance for a player making his debut on the WBT.
Although everything points toward a Kerkow win, I can't help feeling that it could be worth taking a small gamble on the 6-1 about the Hong Kong bowler as who knows what could happen after the bizarre happenings of the past few days.
Verdict: Kerkow should cruise this, but Chan is the more attractive punt at 6-1.
