David Pipe sets a poser by saddling both Notus De La Tour and Hunterview, but it is the latter that makes the most appeal at 17-2.
The four-year-old was a decent sort on the flat where he was officially rated 93, and seems to be improving with every run over hurdles.
He ran very well when narrowly beaten by Orzare on his debut at Newbury, and was then far from disgraced in finishing fourth to Saldan Licht before opening his account at the third time of asking at Warwick.
The key to him is the ground. All his runs so far have been in testing conditions, and in my opinion he has not been seen at his best by a long chalk as a result.
Today's faster conditions and fast pace should be far more up his street, and it's often the case that horses like him who have been running on ground which they don't like get nice opening handicap marks which they can exploit.
He gets in this contest off a mark of 125, and I will be surprised if he does not turn out to be better than that. I know for a fact that the Pipe team are very keen on his chances and there is very little between him and his stable companion who is favoured in the betting.
Therefore at 17-2, compared to 5s for Notus, he has to be worth an each-way interest in a race which should play to his strengths.
Paul Nicholls' Sanctuaire looks an obvious danger, and the "dark horse" could be the Tom Cooper trained Son Amix. He was an expensive French purchase who I know is held in very high regard, and really impressed when bolting in last time out.
Recommended bet: 3pts each-way Hunterview (17-2 Stan James, Hills)
