A race named in honour of the master of Pond House who plundered all of the big races at the Festival with regularity.
His son David has not suprisingly attacked this race with a vengeance in it's two runnings but without success.
He saddled no less than seven contenders in it's innaugral running, includingthe heavily backed 7-2 fav Big Eared Fran fraed best when finishing third.
Last year he again sent out the fav in the shape of Ashkazar who was the stable's sole representative but could finish only seventh at 9-2.
He will be hoping to make it third time lucky this year, and it goes without saying that whatever he saddles commands the utmost respect.
*Nicky Henderson sent out Andytown (25-1) to win the first running of the race and last year supplied the second, fourth and fifth home from a powerful quartet that represented him.
