The highlight of the meeting featuring the eagerly awaited clash between stablemates Kauto Star and Denman.
The score between the two in this contest currently stands at 1-1 with Kauto gaining his revenge over “The Tank” last year having finished runner up to him in 2008.
The two are head and shoulders above anything else in the field, and the deciding factor on the day is likely to be the going as both horses have proved themselves to be better than ever in their build up races.
Kauto put up arguably one of his best performances ever in the glittering career when romping to victory in the King George, whilst Denman bounced back to form with a scintillating win in the Hennessy.
On quick going Kauto would be the call, but on soft of heavier Denman would be at an advantage. It’s a coin toss, and granted a level playing field on good racing ground it should be a crackerjack of a head to head.
The others are really racing for third place money, and Willie Mullins’ Cooldine could be the one to sneak into the frame.
