Mount McLeod was a very unlucky loser when I put her up at huge odds last time out, and looks a solid bet at 3/1 to gain compensation and open her account in the 5.50 at Kempton.
Jamie Osbourne's filly got no luck in running whatsoever when runner-up to Guava in handicap at Nottingham andd id well to be beaten just over a length.
After being slowly away, she made smooth headway to track the leaders before being squeezed out when coming to deliver her challenge at the furlong marker and after losing vital lengths produced a strong run to snatch second on the line.
There is little doubt in my mind that she would have won with plenty to spare granted a clear passage, and although the handicapper has put her up 2lb for that effort the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor is in effect a winner without a penalty and remains very well treated.
Her connections look to have found her a nice opening this evening to register her first success, and from a good draw in stall 1 she rates the best bet on the card
Recommended bet: 4pts win Mount McLeod (3/1 generally available - BOG firms)
