Major Conquest drops into selling company for the first time in the 4.00 at Lingfield and has to be of major interest at 11/4 in such a low grade affair.
John Hills' gelding has not been at his best this season, but a repeat of his second to Bertiewhittle at Chester back in June would be good enough to win this and on his two-year-old form he would eat this lot for breakfast.
He had a progressive profile as a juvenile, running really when on his debut to be fifth of 12 to Strong Suit at Newbury before going on to score at Salisbury and Ascot.
The form of those races looks strong in the context of this race, and he is 1lb lower than his Ascot success where he scored with more in hand than the winning margin of a neck suggests.
Although he has failed to match that form this time round, he did show plenty of early dash on his latest start at Yarmouth, and could be difficult to peg bag from stall 1 this afternoon if allowed to bowl along at the head of affairs.
This is certainly by far the easiest task he has faced in his career, and quite frankly if he doesn't win this then I can't see him doing so ever again.
Recommended bet: 4pts win Major Conquest (11/4 bet365 - BOG)
