Amethyst Dawn has been given a real chance by the handicapper and looks cracking value at 10/1 to take advantage in the 3.30 at Leicester.
Tim Easterby's mare made all and battled on gamely to win at Thirsk off a mark of 84 back in June and is down to a rating of just 78.
That gives her a tremendous chance from a handicapping perspective, and although she has not been at her best in six starts since she has far from been disgraced in her last two outings.
The five-year-old is at her best when up with the pace so it was surprising that she was held-up in mid division on her latest run at Ayr when she eventually finished 6th of 13 to Take It To The Max.
I suspect that connections will have her ridden more handy today now that she is better handicapped, and if the usual attacking tactics are used then she could take some pegging back.
She is certainly no 10/1 shot in my book, and I suspect she will go off shorter come race time.
Recommended bet: 2pts each-way Amethyst Dawn (10/1 Boylesports, Hills, Victor Chandler - BOG)
